The Climate Group, in partnership with the Electrification Coalition, hosted a roundtable on fleet electrification in New York City on Thursday 24 February, which brought together public and private fleet managers, vehicle manufacturers, utilities and financiers to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with EV fleets.

The Climate Group's Australia Director, Caroline Bayliss, comments on Prime Minister Julia Gillard's announcement that Australia will have a price on carbon in place from 1st July 2012. The commitment is a firm step forward but much of the detail remains to be decided.

A new report released yesterday by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and Oxford University says that increasing the EU’s 2020 greenhouse gas reduction target from 20 per cent to 30 per cent could boost European economies, leading to a GDP increase and the creation of additional jobs.

Yesterday in a speech at King’s College, EU Energy commissioner Günther Oettinger argued against Europe increasing its ambition to cut carbon emissions by 30 per cent by 2020, from the current 20 per cent.

Greenhouse gas emissions from energy-use in Australia’s eastern states fell by 2.17 per cent in 2010 according to a new report released today. The Climate Group’s Greenhouse Indicator Annual Report shows that across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, annual emissions were 6.6 million tonnes lower in 2010 than 2009.

The Climate Group and the International Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) hosted the ‘Financing a Clean Revolution’ lunch at the World Economic Forum’s annual conference in Davos, where participants agreeing that partnership between private sector and governments is essential for a clean energy revolution.
